Government of India

Overview

Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0, urban Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Low Income Group (LIG) and Middle Income Group (MIG) families get financial help to build, buy or rent a pucca house. The central and state governments share the cost, paid by DBT.

Benefits come through four verticals: Beneficiary-Led Construction on own land (BLC), Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP), Affordable Rental Housing (ARH) and the Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS) on home loans. Women's ownership or co-ownership of the house is encouraged.

The family must not own a pucca house anywhere in India or have taken benefits under another government housing scheme in the prescribed period. Apply on the PMAY-U 2.0 portal with Aadhaar-based authentication.
