Atal Pension Yojana
Government of India
Overview
Atal Pension Yojana is a central guaranteed pension scheme for unorganised-sector workers. Regular small contributions during working years secure a guaranteed pension of Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 a month after 60 — the amount depends on the contribution level.
After the subscriber's death the spouse receives the same pension, and after both, the corpus is returned to the nominee. For a limited period the government co-contributes 50% of the annual contribution or Rs 1,000 a year (whichever is lower) for eligible subscribers. Tax benefits (e.g. Section 80CCD) apply.
You must join between 18 and 40. Fill in the form at the bank or post office where you hold a savings account and set up a monthly auto-debit.
