Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Yojana (PM-JAY)
Government of India
Overview
Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) gives economically vulnerable families free hospitalisation cover of up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year. Treatment is cashless and paperless at empanelled public and private hospitals.
Beneficiaries are identified from the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC): rural deprivation criteria (such as a one-room kutcha house, SC/ST households, landless labour households) and, in urban areas, families of workers in specified occupations (domestic workers, street vendors, construction workers, drivers and others). There is no limit on family size, age or gender, and pre-existing diseases are covered from day one. All senior citizens aged 70 or above get special coverage.
Check whether you are listed via 'Am I Eligible' on the PM-JAY website or at a CSC; after identity verification an Ayushman card (e-card) is issued. Treatment is available at empanelled hospitals anywhere in India.
