Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN)

Government of India

Overview

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a central income support scheme. Farmer families owning cultivable land receive Rs 6,000 a year in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000, paid directly to their bank accounts (DBT).

Land ownership must be recorded in the State land records. Institutional landholders and higher-income groups — such as serving or retired government officials (with some exceptions), income-tax payers, doctors, engineers and lawyers — are excluded. A valid Aadhaar number and an active bank account (with e-KYC) are required.

Register through 'New Farmer Registration' on the PM-KISAN portal (pmkisan.gov.in) or at a nearby Common Service Centre (CSC). Payments start after verification by the Block ADA of the Agriculture Department.
