Pre-Matric Scholarship for SC, ST and OBC students

Overview
The Pre-Matric Scholarship supports SC, ST and OBC school students (generally Classes 9–10) with a monthly allowance, fee reimbursement and study costs, so that they do not drop out.
It provides a monthly maintenance allowance (higher for hostellers), reimbursement of applicable tuition fees and compulsory charges such as exam and admission fees, book or study-material support in some cases, and extra allowances for students with disabilities. Exact amounts differ by state, category and component. For SC/ST students, family income must not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh a year.
Online applications for the 2026-27 session are open on the OASIS portal (oasis.wb.gov.in) for Pre-Matric SC, ST, OBC and Pre-Matric Component-II (children of parents in hazardous occupations, tanning/flaying, sanitation work and the NAMASTE scheme).

Eligibility
- Belongs to the SC/ST/OBC community with a valid caste certificate
- Regular student in a recognised school

- Passed the previous examination (for renewal)
- Not availing another scholarship for the same purpose
- Belongs to the state/UT from where applying

How to apply
- Create a One-Time Registration (OTR) ID on oasis.wb.gov.in (OTR on NSP is mandatory for ST students)
- Fill in the online form with personal, academic and bank details
- Upload documents, submit and forward to the school for verification
- The school and state authorities verify; track the status on the portal
- Payment is made by DBT
- For Component-II, the prescribed format for the parent/guardian occupation certificate is available on OASIS
