Medhashree — annual assistance for OBC students

Government of West Bengal

Overview

Medhashree is a Government of West Bengal scholarship that pays OBC students in Classes V–VIII Rs 800 a year, directly to their bank accounts (DBT).

OBC students who are permanent residents of West Bengal and study in a government, government-aided or government-recognised school are eligible; family income should generally be within Rs 2.5 lakh a year, and the student must not receive any similar scholarship. It is renewed every year up to Class VIII.

Students do not apply themselves — the Headmaster/Headmistress identifies eligible students and submits their details on the official portal. The OBC caste certificate, income certificate, Aadhaar and bank details are given to the school.
