Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) — Rs 3,000 monthly pension for unorganised workers
Government of India (Ministry of Labour and Employment)
Overview
A pension scheme giving old-age social security to unorganised sector workers such as street vendors, construction workers and domestic workers. It guarantees a minimum pension of Rs 3,000 a month after age 60.
Members contribute a small, age-based amount of Rs 55 to Rs 200 a month, and the government contributes an equal amount. If the pensioner dies, the spouse receives half the pension (Rs 1,500 a month). If the member dies before 60, the spouse can continue the scheme by contributing.
Workers aged 18 to 40 earning Rs 15,000 a month or less can enrol at a nearby Common Service Centre (CSC) with Aadhaar and a bank account.
