Minor Correction of Land Records (Khatian and Record of Rights)

Government of West Bengal — Land and Land Reforms offices (BanglarBhumi portal)

Overview

A government service for correcting small errors in land records — the Record of Rights or Khatian. Spelling mistakes in the owner's name, errors in the father's, husband's or guardian's name, address, plot number, area mismatches, land classification errors, Khatian details and other clerical mistakes can be corrected by the competent land revenue authority.

Correct records avoid delays when land is sold, transferred, inherited, mutated or used for a loan, and prevent future disputes between owners, heirs or buyers. Applications can be made and tracked online.

The recorded owner (raiyat), their legal heir, a purchaser, a co-sharer or an authorised representative can apply — online on the BanglarBhumi portal (banglarbhumi.gov.in), or at the Block Land and Land Reforms Office (BL&LRO), the Revenue Inspector office, or the Sub-Divisional or District Land and Land Reforms Office. Major ownership, boundary or title disputes are not settled through this service and may need separate legal or revenue proceedings.
