Utkarsh Bangla — free vocational skill training
Paschim Banga Society for Skill Development, Government of West Bengal
Overview
Utkarsh Bangla is the Government of West Bengal's skill development scheme for young people. It offers short-term training with no training fees in trades such as construction, apparel, healthcare, IT-ITES and hospitality, with certification after assessment and help with jobs and self-employment.
The nodal agency is the Paschim Banga Society for Skill Development (PBSSD), with training centres in every district.
Residents of West Bengal who are unemployed or underemployed, school/college dropouts, job seekers or people wanting to upgrade skills — and who meet the course's age (15 to 45) and education requirements — can register on the Utkarsh Bangla portal or through a training centre, District Skill Development Office, BDO or municipality. Women, economically weaker sections, minorities, SC, ST and persons with disabilities may get priority.
