Udyam Registration — free registration for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs)

Government of India — Udyam Registration portal

Overview

Udyam is the online registration and recognition system for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). With Udyam registration, a business can more easily get government subsidies, credit and incentives, gains formal recognition, and finds it easier to do business. It replaces earlier registrations such as Udyog Aadhaar.

Registration is online, free and needs minimal documents. Registered businesses get priority sector lending from banks, collateral-free loans under government schemes, interest subsidies, protection against delayed payments, preference in government tenders and often exemption from the earnest money deposit (EMD), concessions on electricity bills, patent and trademark fees, and support to take part in international trade fairs.

Any new or existing MSME in manufacturing or services — a proprietorship, partnership, LLP, private limited company or any other legal structure — can register. A valid Aadhaar number of the proprietor or authorised signatory is required.
