Rajya Khadya Suraksha Yojana (RKSY) — free rice
Government of West Bengal (Food & Supplies Department)
Overview
A Government of West Bengal food security scheme that gives free food grains to economically weaker families not fully covered by the National Food Security Act (NFSA). It aims to make essential grains affordable and accessible to poor and vulnerable families across the state.
More vulnerable households (Category 1) receive 5 kg of rice per person per month, and comparatively better-off households (Category 2) receive 2 kg per person per month — free of cost under Khadya Sathi.
Residents of West Bengal with a valid ration card can apply on the Food Department portal (food.wb.gov.in) or at the local food office or fair price shop. Both new applications and conversion from RKSY-II are possible.
