Overview
The Public Service Commission, West Bengal will recruit 266 English Stenographers (Basic Grade) — 146 vacancies in Schedule 'A' and 120 in Schedule 'B' (Advt. No. 04/2025).
Candidates who have passed Madhyamik and can type 30 words per minute in English on a computer may apply. The examination has three papers: General English (100), Dictation & Transcription (400) and Computer Typing (100). Paper-I is held first in Kolkata; a limited number of candidates then sit Papers II and III.
Apply online at psc.wb.gov.in by 3:30 p.m. on 7 November 2026; the Edit Window runs from 10 to 13 November 2026. The examination is tentatively in December 2026.

Eligibility
Passed Madhyamik or equivalent; and elementary knowledge of computer operation with typing speed of 30 words per minute in English.
Selection process
- Paper-I: General English (100 marks) — held first in Kolkata
- Paper-II: Dictation & Transcription (400 marks)
- Paper-III: Computer Typing (100 marks)
- After Paper-I, a limited number of candidates sit Papers II and III
- Final merit list on all three papers; examination tentatively in December 2026
