Preparing documents for online applications

Photo and signature dimensions, file types and sizes can differ between notifications. The advice below is general — check the official notification for the exact rules.

Documents commonly requested

• Scans of a recent passport-size photograph and your signature
• Proof of age (for example, Madhyamik admit card or certificate)
• Mark sheets and certificates for your qualifications
• Caste, disability or income certificates, where applicable
• Any other documents the notification asks for

Important precautions

• Make sure your name and date of birth are spelled the same on every document.
• Check any validity or issue-date conditions for certificates in the notification.
• Keep copies of the submitted application and fee receipt.
• Enter Aadhaar numbers, bank details or passwords only on the official portal, and only where requested.
