How to read a recruitment notification
Every government recruitment has its own rules. Read the complete official notification carefully before applying, paying particular attention to the sections below.
1. Advertisement number and date
Note down the advertisement number. Corrigenda and deadline extensions refer to it, so you can match later notices.
2. Educational qualification
Check the minimum qualification, any required subjects or marks, and the date by which you must have passed. Whether an “equivalent” qualification is accepted is stated in the notification itself.
3. Age limit and relaxation
Age is usually calculated “as on” a specific date — not today's date. Relaxations may apply for reserved categories, ex-servicemen or persons with disabilities; check the exact amount and conditions in the notification.
4. Important dates
- Application start and end dates (sometimes with a specific closing time)
- Last date for fee payment, which can differ from the application deadline
- The window for correcting submitted applications, if any
- Tentative schedule for the exam, admit cards and results
5. Application fee and selection process
Take fee amounts and payment methods only from the official notification. Learn the stages of selection (written test, physical test, interview, document verification) so you can prepare.
6. Watch for corrigenda
Dates, vacancies or conditions can change after publication. Check the official website for new notices before and after you apply. On Janvikash, each listing shows the corrigenda we know about.
